Crater Lake

Experience the deepest lake in the United States and the 7th deepest lake in the world! Crater Lake is 1,943 feet deep. The lake is situated in the middle of Oregon on one of Oregon’s oldest national parks. Originally, Crater Lake was known as Mount Mazama before the collapse and formation of the crater. Since there are no tributaries that feed into the basin, Crater Lake has little to no pollutants and is considered to be one of the most pristine lakes in North America. The lake maintains its water levels from the amount of rain and snow that flows into the lake.

Some of the activities that one may enjoy while visiting Crater Lake National Park include camping, fishing, cross-country skiing, boat tours to Wizard Island, swimming, snowshoeing, biking, or just taking in the majestic scenery with a driving tour around the rim of the crater. Every year over 500,000 visitors come to Crater Lake National Park to witness the natural beauty of this magnificent Oregon attraction.

Whether you’re just visiting for the day or you planned a week long excursion to the “Gem of the Cascades,” Crater Lake National Park has accommodations for both. Crater Lake Lodge is a 71-room historical establishment that was opened in 1915. The lodge is located on the top of the crater’s rim. It boasts an exhibit room with history about Crater Lake, as well as a beautiful dining room for a gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The other choice for lodging in the park is The Cabins at Mazama Village. Mazama Village is a group of cabins that are set in the forest for a private relaxing visit in the Park.
