Oregon Shakespeare Festival

“To be, or not to be” that is the question on many of the minds that visit Ashland, Oregon. This quaint town, in the southern part of Oregon, is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. During the festival, visitors can get tickets to one of the many different Shakespearean plays in three different theatres. The Elizabethan Theatre is the most famous of the three. It is a replica of the old English renaissance theatre that became famous because William Shakespeare presented his plays in this type of theatre. Time magazine said that the Elizabethan Theatre was, “One of America's top five regional theatres.”

The festival runs from the middle of February to the end of October and features Shakespearean plays like Macbeth, Don Quixote, and Henry VIII. The festival also presents contemporary plays, comedies, and musicals. Ashland is home to many talented and gifted performers.
